Marist Academic Calendar 2023 – Marist College plans to bring students back to campus in the fall, although it has stepped up security measures earlier than in previous years.
The school plans to resume classes on Aug. 24, skip fall break and finish the semester online.

Marist President Dennis Murray's letter to students and alumni Saturday outlines the school's updated schedule and safety measures as the country continues to feel the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Due to the ongoing crisis, we will not be able to do business as usual and many of the things we traditionally enjoy will have to change," Murray said in the letter. "Our plans are largely based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, state and local governments, and recommendations from doctors and health professionals."
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has yet to issue state permission for colleges to hold in-person classes this fall, saying he wants to test data on COVID-19 in the coming weeks. However, he said the government would soon issue instructions on how this could be done.
The broader safety measures discussed by Marist include social distancing and crowd reduction, new ways of delivering classes, restrictions on large gatherings, the use of masks, virus testing and mass cleaning of buildings.

Except for the omitted October holidays, classes will be held during the week, and selected hours will be held on Saturdays. Students will not return to campus after Thanksgiving break; after an extra week of classes, final exams will begin in December. 7.
The school did not say whether students would be banned from being online on campus, but noted that Saturday classes and the elimination of fall break "discourage travel and reduce the risk of exposure to the virus."
The letter added that students will receive more information in the next few weeks about what to expect next semester.
