You should read it carefully because Disneyland has recently changed the process of purchasing tickets through the Disneyland website. You now have to select a date to pre-book when purchasing tickets through Disneyland. If you already have a ticket, plan to purchase from Undercover Tourist, or have a Magic Key card, you will need to use the Disneyland park reservation system to reserve your date in advance. Even if you buy directly from Disneyland, you'll still use the same system to manage your reservations should you ever need to cancel or change them.
Back to the action when we visited the Disneyland Resort, and if you feel the same way, there are a few important things you should know before you visit. To visit Disneyland or Disney California Adventure, you need a valid park ticket AND a reservation using the new Disneyland reservation system. Disneyland has reserved a limited number of park reservations for guests to limit capacity. All guests with existing tickets or those needing to purchase theme park tickets must book in advance. Hotel guests with tickets must also book in advance. These reservations will be issued on an ongoing basis, 120 days in advance. We see a lot of bookings coming out in batches so make sure you keep checking back for immediate availability. If you see a pop-up, book quickly as popular dates go fast.
The Magic Key Card is available for renewal only until further notice. The sale of the new magic key is temporarily suspended. The Magic Key program replaced the previous annual pass program. Magic key holders must book in advance to visit the parks. Magic Key holders use the same booking system and can book up to 90 days in advance (120 days in advance for other ticket holders) and have a limited number of bookings they can hold at one time, this amount varies by card type. But once a reservation is used or canceled, a new reservation can be created. The calendar available to Magic Key holders differs from other ticket holders. You can find one day without a reservation for those who have a magic key, while there are multiple days available for other ticket holders and vice versa.
Unlike those who booked single-day and multi-day tickets, holders of the magic key face penalties for no-shows. The key holder can cancel the reservation without penalty until 23:59. the night before the reservation. However, if they do not appear three times within 90 days, new bookings will be suspended for 30 days. The existing reservation will not be canceled at that time. In comparison, if regular ticket holders do not show up, they can reserve a new seat. To avoid the magic key being displayed, key holders must cancel the reservation the night before or enter the park before closing on the day of the reservation.
