Rrisd Calendar 2020 – The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approved the school plan for the 2020-2021 school year at its regular meeting on February 28.
Like the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic calendars, the 2020-2021 academic calendar includes 75,600 hours of work. The state professional development leave is equal to 2100 hours of work through five professional development days during the school year.

In addition, all high school students are offered classes every day from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and each term begins on the first day of the second full academic week and continues until the day before final exams.

Before final approval of the calendar, the public had the opportunity to review and comment on two items on the academic calendar from 18 January to 3 February. The selection was made by a calendar committee made up of district and school administrators, staff, teachers and parents, based on previous calendars from previous years and community feedback. This year's public comments, reviewed by the planning committee, showed strong support for the original project as presented. This option is now advanced as the only requirement for approval.

This update includes the addition of daily tutoring available to all high school students from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM on all 4 days of final high school exams each term, with 1:30 PM early release days remaining.

The commission presented it to the board of trustees at its regular meeting on January 16, 2020. Plan 1 and Plan 2 include a school year date for the third week in August, a full week off for Thanksgiving and two weeks off during the holiday season. Both also include professional development/teacher work days/non-student school days. In August before the first day of school, in December and January before and after the holidays, and in May after the last day of school. Both the Option 1 and Option 2 calendars have the last class date before Memorial Day. Each class has two hours. Each term consists of four days with 1:15. Secondary schools release early on the last exam date. All upper secondary students from 08:30 to 13:00. Daily classes are offered until 21.00 and each semester begins on the first day of the second full week of classes and continues until the day before the final exam.

Differences between calendars include the first day of classes and placement of student holidays/professional development days during the school year. Option 1 refers to the already approved calendar for this school year and 2020-2021 with Monday/Tuesday holidays in October and February. Option 2 would start school one day before term 1 to provide a student break/professional development day during the school year. These professional development days will be held throughout the year (September 27th, October 11th Columbus Day, November 1st the day after Halloween, February 21st President's Day and March 11th before the holidays). In addition, December and January are professional development days for both projects.
