Episd Calendar 20 21 – The pandemic has changed everything, including sending our children to school. The outage changed spring break for El Paso students by initially suspending it for a week until the end of the spring semester and replacing it with distance learning. Once the building and construction issues are resolved, officials in the El Paso district and across the country are not sure if students will be able to enroll for the 2020-2021 fall semester.
Last week, Canutillo Independent School District announced it would adopt an annual school calendar similar to that of the Socorro Independent School District, which is an annual, multi-year system. Because the Texas Department of Education is trying to give schools time to close if necessary, and if necessary if there is a second outbreak, they are working hard with the schools across the state to schedule throughout the year.

The move would reduce summer vacations but provide annual vacations for staff and students. Meanwhile, El Paso and Canutillo begin the new school year on August 3rd.

Ironically, this is the start of the school year for EPISD and CISD, as it is the anniversary of the El Paso Walmart shooting. No one is saying this is just another school year, or that next school year will be good, but just like after Walmart closes, we can do as El Pasoans do and let the kids come back
