To predict what may happen in 2023, we need to take a good look at what has happened since the opening round.

As congestion levels increase after the park opens, we will look at how we expect them to increase in 2023 and how that will affect congestion levels and wait times.

Just a warning, since the park opened, Disney World's public calendar has been thrown out the window, as it has been very difficult to reliably predict attendance so far.

Some of our predictions for 2022 came true (guests returning to Walt Disney World style), but with so many unpredictable factors, we were also wrong. All predictions for 2023 should be taken with a grain of salt because understanding the community has become difficult in recent years and we are still far from perfect.

2022 is interesting to say the least and we don't know how the crowd level will respond throughout the year. There are many unknown factors such as the current health crisis, the state of the economy and the general willingness of travelers to travel. However, as the years wore on, it became clear that people did not slow down when going on vacation or visiting the "wonderful places in the world."

Walt Disney World has completed most of its phased openings beginning in 2020 with Disney's Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. We have yet to receive an official word from Disney or anything else, but all traces of known security restrictions have long since disappeared from the Disney World website.

However, the situation has not returned to normal and the park's capacity is currently limited due to staffing shortages in the Orlando area.

Overall, the crowd level was very high last year and it is impossible to say that the participation is stagnant. Almost every time we go there, the crowd level always seems normal. It is very different from 2021, especially in 2020, the park is sometimes like a ghost town and many attractions do not have to wait more than 15-20 minutes.

Disney World Increases Ticket Prices For Second Time In A Year

In January 2022, things are ramping up and the park is more crowded than ever. Normal. February saw more traffic and wait times were unprecedented for this time of year.

The situation is worse in March and April when people start traveling more during the spring and Easter holidays. During this month, the park is the most crowded and although it is reduced, the park still feels full.

May was quiet, probably our favorite month from last year with excellent waiting times. By June, everything was back to normal, and Disney World's crowd levels continued to return to normal until July. Much of this is due to the increased capacity of theme parks and the return of entertainment options in parks.

If you really want to see the numbers, our friends at Thrill-data.com have some great charts where you can see how the wait has steadily increased over the years.

The chart above shows the wait time for Magic Kingdom from November 2021 to November 2022.

As you can see, the average waiting time for attraction is about 15 minutes in August/September 2021, but after entering in 2022 the average waiting time is 35 minutes or more.

A small drop in August was followed by a large drop in September, as it is every year. The average waiting time for attractions in the 4 parks in September is between 25 and 40 minutes, which is different from a few months ago.

October is the busiest month of the year for this trip for the year.

The holiday season continues in November, although the schedule doesn't show it, but the month I took these screenshots is still over. We have no doubt that December will be the same and the park will be full as ever. There is a reason why two months are at the top of the list of busiest months.

September to December, spring and summer the crowd is always high due to vacation and school schedule. However, the growth we have seen in the past year is due to people returning to normal as more holiday travel and parks are reaching 100%.

A few years ago, the low rate was due to several factors. Many domestic tourists are hesitant to travel at first, but after a few months of seeing how Disney has seen the changes and steps, they have decided to get comfortable with the idea. Eliminating these steps, such as masking, may help attract guests who are willing to wait earlier.

Yes, guests must use the new Disney Park Pass system to reserve a park, and numbers are limited each day, but as long as you don't wait until the last minute or try to get in, it won't be a problem.
