Csulb Calendar 2020 – Coastal Forensics has completed two consecutive weeks of speech and debate competition with a strong start to the 2020-2021 season. On September 19, 20 and 21, Forensic Beach hosted the Jack Howe Invitational, one of the largest speech and debate tournaments for middle and high schools in the country. In addition to adjusting to the pandemic, Coastal Forensics hosted the competition and welcomed nearly 5,000 competitors and guests from more than 30 states, Canada, and China. The tournament ran smoothly and was a resounding success, due in no small part to the incredible dedication and hard work of Coastal Forensics members, the program's graduate assistants, Debate Director Devon Cooper, and Glass Director Aaron Fullman. It was a major competition weekend due to the virtual Jack Howe Memorial Invitational for the following speech and debate competitions across the country.
Phyllis Schatz Annual Banquet hosted by Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. At the tournament, the team of Noah Christiansen (sophomore) and Diego Flores (freshman) went undefeated in the preliminary round, advancing to the knockout round as the top seed. The speaker was placed in the competition, and this was Flores' first competition as a member of Forensics Beach. The duo had victories over Bayer University, the University of Houston, Liberty University, George Mason University, and Wake Forest during the tournament. Coastal Forensics is on track to qualify for national pro competition for the second straight season and plans to continue their progress in future competitions.
