Auburn City Schools Calendar 2023 24 – In a few days, Auburn High School students will return to class for the 2022-2023 school year. The new school year brings changes that students and parents should be aware of. Here's a quick guide to this year's biggest changes.

Most school days work around our schedule. In this program, students receive 96 minutes of instruction in each of our four blocks with a 7-minute completion time. Students who do not plan to be on campus in a particular block should only come to campus for scheduled events or meetings that require their presence. Otherwise, students should arrive on time to reach their scheduled blocks and leave after the last closing on their schedule.

We have a modified block schedule, which means our classes are longer but semester based. If a lesson is scheduled every day, it ends at the end of the semester. If a class is scheduled with another class in the same time block, every other day, it ends at the end of the school year. We call the alternating days "blue days" and "white days". Almost all the courses we offer follow this format; However, there are some courses that end at the end of nine weeks, and even a few courses that run daily, as well as throughout the year.

Students also get a 25 minute lunch break in the third part of their schedule. Students participate in a weekly counseling and academic support session called Tiger Connect. During this time, students have 30 minutes to do homework, receive instruction from teachers, study, or take a mental break.

Students eat in the cafeteria according to the wave that the third block course is offered. Seating is not provided and students are encouraged to use this time to catch up with old friends, make new friends and refuel for the last half of the day. Our school has a large student population and although we have four afternoon waves, each wave can accommodate hundreds of students.

It is important to sit during lunch (except: take out the trash, use the toilet, accidents), keep your voice when talking or low, and clean up after eating. Students eat lunch during their third class, except for the first three days of student training. Our tides are designed to be eaten in sections, and students should write their afternoon tides if they have a lesson on the second day in the third box, or if their class changes on the fourth or end of the term:

Free and Reduced Lunch Options: Students can receive free or reduced meals (breakfast and lunch) if the household's income level and the number of members living in the household meet federal, state lunch and breakfast guidelines. Families can complete an application for free and reduced school meals at registration and/or at any time during the school year (click here to open the application). Applications are available at schools or online at www.myschoolbucks.com. A free or reduced meal certificate does not apply to taxes and/or meal charges already incurred.

Meal account credit: Public school lunch and breakfast programs do not allow for paid meals. Therefore, it is the responsibility of parents/guardians to pay for student meal purchases in advance or on a daily basis. 10.-12. students in the classroom are not allowed to cut food and cannot have extra food.

A la carte items: Students who bring their own food from home can purchase items available in the restaurant at a la carte prices. Students may not pay for a la carte items.

Ensuring adequate maintenance is the first step in protecting our campus. To help us on a campus as large as ours, we require AHS students, faculty, and staff to wear a valid, active campus ID (access card) at all times.

As part of their professional duties, faculty and staff are responsible for ensuring the safety and guidance of students. It is the responsibility of school personnel to inquire about situations that appear out of the ordinary at any time during school work and to seek administrative assistance and guidance as needed.

Official AHS Campus ID: ALL faculty, staff and students on the Auburn High School campus must wear their official AHS Campus ID around their neck during business hours. New certificates cost $5.00. If student IDs are lost or missing, the student must report the missing/lost ID to administration, purchase a new ID from MySchoolBucks, and/or obtain an advanced assessment (see below).

It is important to know when to plan vacations and trips, but remember when Auburn City Schools also have days off. vacation Students have a week of Thanksgiving vacation and two weeks of Christmas vacation.

The move reverts the school year to the way it was before a 2012 federal law required the school system to begin the school year no later than two weeks before Labor Day and the year ended the Friday before Memorial Day. Those student deployments forced districts across the state to hold 180 school days, reducing free time for students and teachers.

The law that shortened the school year will expire after this school year, so that the regions of the country can again make their own hives as they see fit. Huntsville City Schools officials said Thursday that students in Madison and Madison County may have similar experiences.
