What Is Lent And When Is It In 2023? — Lent's History And Symbolism

Lent, or Lent, is the annual Christian commemoration that precedes Easter. Lent means Easter, which is a scheduled holiday, meaning it falls on a different day each year. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and the celebration (although not its traditional time, because Sunday is not a fast day and therefore does not count – see below) lasts 40 days, reflecting the 40 days Jesus fasted in the desert before beginning his ministry.
