West Virginia University Academic Calendar Spring 2023 – West Virginia University's 2022 spring semester begins Monday, Jan. 10, with many of the campus' current COVID-19 health and safety protocols remaining in place while health officials monitor the emerging omicron variant.

The COVID-19 protocols will be reevaluated as more information becomes available regarding the omicron variant, the FDA's consideration of new therapeutic drugs, as well as infection and hospitalization rates as we approach the spring semester.

"It's important, even though we may be tired of the pandemic, that we don't let our guard down," said Dr. Jeffrey Coben, dean of the School of Public Health and associate vice president for health affairs. "We have succeeded at this point in mitigating the impact of the virus on our campuses because our faculty, staff and students have taken this threat seriously and we encourage you to continue to take care of yourselves and others. Please consider getting the full vaccine, including a booster dose, if applicable."

West Virginia University, Divisional Campuses, Plans To Open For Fall, Holds Line On Tuition, Fees For '20 '21 Year

At this time, masks will continue to be required for all individuals, regardless of immunization status, in all classrooms, labs, or any WVU system facility or building used as a classroom.

Masks are expected, but not required, for people who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 in all indoor and outdoor settings where large groups gather. Additionally, masks will be required, regardless of vaccination status, for PRT and WVU bus passengers until March 18, 2022, according to updated federal guidelines from the Transportation Security Administration.

New students starting at WVU this spring are required to take the COVID-19 education form by January 9, 2022. Those returning this spring do not need to take the form again. Those who are required to take the form will soon receive an email from covidmodule@notify.wvu.edu with more information on how to complete the form. WVU continues to encourage everyone to be fully vaccinated and receive a COVID-19 booster. Staff and students, especially new students starting this spring, are encouraged to check their immunization status at http://myhousing.wvu.edu.

Those on the health sciences campus involved in patient care, including residents, fellows and students, are required to follow separate WVU Health System policies or other clinical provider policies, including those related to COVID-19, such as masks, PPE and vaccines. .

Certain faculty, staff and students working on or in connection with certain federal contracts are required to be vaccinated. Questions can be sent to talentandculture@mail.wvu.edu.

Significant Ice Storm' Expected In Virginia Wednesday Night

WVU Medicine Student Health has Pfizer vaccines available for WVU students at its clinic in the Health and Education Building. Walk-in appointments are offered during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm).

The Monongalia County Health Department offers free vaccinations by appointment most days at its facility at 453 Van Voorhis Rd. Anyone who wants to be vaccinated can call MCHD at 304-598-5119 to make an appointment.

Immunizations will continue to be offered at the Morgantown campus one day per week in partnership with MCHD. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.

Danville Community College

Due to high rates of immunization testing, WVU has not conducted or will require campus-wide COVID-19 testing at the beginning of the semester. Any sampling/monitoring tests during the semester will be based on the situation as they occur.

For personal safety and that of others, students and staff should not ignore the symptoms of COVID-19; People with symptoms of COVID-19 should not be on campus for work or class.

Virginia Tech Academic Calendar 2022/2023

All members of the WVU community are required to report if they test positive for COVID-19 or are in quarantine due to suspected or known exposure to COVID-19. At Morgantown, students and staff should report positive results to CareServices@mail.wvu.edu.

Testing and immunization information for WVU Tech students and staff is available on the Beckley Return to Campus website.

Likewise, testing information for WVU Potomac State College students and staff is available on the WVU Keyser Return to Campus website.

Eastern Announces Partnership With Western Governors University

The university continues to implement isolation and quarantine procedures on campus. Students living in residence halls with COVID-19 will be isolated in Gaskins House.

WVU's public dashboard will be updated to report biweekly vaccination verification rates for the Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser campuses. WVU's COVID-19 case count and testing information will not be reported on the dashboard due to the change in testing strategy.

The 2022 spring semester will begin on Monday, January 10 and will include a traditional spring break from March 12-20.

Fairmont State University

Details of allocated seats and seat charts will be shared with teachers and tutors for contact tracing purposes in the coming weeks.

The university will again use a traditional grading scale this spring and will no longer offer a pass/pass/fail option.

The University continues to monitor current travel guidelines and global infrastructure and will follow federal and state guidelines. Students and academic advisors with questions regarding international study abroad opportunities should contact the Office of Global Affairs.

West Virginia University Offers Details On Upcoming Spring Semester

The residences will reopen Saturday, January 8 at 12:00. Students can move or return to their space as they wish.

WVU will continue with refreshments and other student and campus activities as normal during the semester, including the Rec Center, Adventure WV, Craft Center, club sports, student organizations, and WVUp All Night.

The Carruth Center offers a variety of counseling services while providing 24/7 emergency and crisis response to students. Healthy Minds University, operated by WVU Medicine and the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, integrates the Center's services and serves as an additional psychiatric counselor and student resource.

Harrison County Schools Academic Calendar 2021 22

The West Virginia University Faculty and Staff Assistance Program is a free service offered to employees and their dependents. FSAP is a confidential resource that provides professional staff with three short-term counseling sessions to determine the best resources available to address presenting issues. For an appointment, WVU staff can call 304-293-5590.
