Federal regulations dictate that students can receive financial aid only for units that count toward their degree, certificate or other credential. Student families who choose not to use or are unable to use the IRS information extraction process must submit a copy of the student's and parent's 2021 IRS tax return if a 2021 federal tax return is filed. An IRS Tax Statement Printout is available from the IRS (Request a 2021 Tax Statement Printout). Copies of signed tax returns may be provided if a copy of the federal tax return is not available.

"After much thought and consideration, Dr. Kaplan has informed the Board of his desire to begin his long-awaited and fully earned sabbatical and continued retirement at the end of this school year, in June 2023."

"While we know that time is fleeting and precious, we believe his decision was largely driven by his desire to spend more time with his beloved family," Pompeo continued.

"So while we are somewhat concerned about his willingness to leave earlier than expected, we accept his decision with the utmost respect for him and Anemon," the letter said.

But the tone changed in the letter: "Steve has been told that some teachers are pressuring him to step down as chancellor before 2024″. The atmosphere created by this inappropriate interference in the management and control of the CEO strengthens confidence in the board. The goal in Pompeo's letter is to have someone "ready to take office" by September 2024.

Pompeo wrote that the actions and comments of some of the university's faculty members in recent weeks "called for Steve to extend his time."

The letter stated that the employees were unhappy with the situation and "helped him make the decision" to leave early.

Pompey's letter, which lavishly praises Kaplan, explains: "When we announced our new leadership plan last summer to strengthen the university for the challenges ahead, we relied heavily on his expertise." Zinger "learned the depth and breadth of the field in two years."

"By 2022, there will be one student, staff or faculty member at the University of New Haven since 2004, the year Steve Kaplan became our president," the letter states.
