As part of the registration process, UIC employees may indicate that they are current UIC employees. The OAR will verify and validate the work and waive the recruitment fee.

Public service employees may register at any senior Illinois public agency. After the application is reviewed/approved, final approval will be sent to your participating institution for review and final processing of the hiring exception. Each institution follows its own practices in the application process.

Employees enrolled in graduate programs are taxed under Section 127 of the Internal Revenue Code, which excludes the value of graduate education exemptions up to $5,250 per year from taxable income. Inter-Institutional 50% Tuition Waiver for Children of State University Employees Provides a 50% tuition waiver (excluding fees) for up to 4 years of undergraduate education (excluding non-credit studies and graduate/professional or certificate programs).

UIC accepts waivers pursuant to the employee's right to request a waiver. The Office of Student Aid verifies that the student meets the waiver requirements.

Please note that you will need to document proof of contact with the UIC Service Center the first time your registration is rejected. When submitting the document, enter the employee's UIN along with the Student's University ID number (not SS#)

Dean's List 2019

Employees who have worked at the university for 7 years or more may be eligible to enroll their child in an Illinois college or university and receive a record of enrollment at that institution. There are two forms required:

UIC will verify the parent's eligibility, and the Office of Student Financial Aid (OFSA) will apply the waiver to the student's account. Students must meet academic probation requirements. If the student does not make satisfactory progress, a waiver will be issued.

For Illinois employees who attend a public university in Illinois and have children there, meet the inter-institutional exemption of 50% of tuition for children of public college employees. Return to the UIC Service Center with the BUR form. The UIC Service Center will review and determine the parent's eligibility. Once approved, the application is sent to the institution where the child is.

Enrolling children of state university employees must complete a 50% tuition waiver by parents, which must be approved by the office of the institution where the parents work. The approved waiver form must be submitted to the UIC Service Center together with the child's BUR form. After review, the UIC Service Center will refer the waiver request internally to the Office of Student Financial Aid (OFSA).

Retirees can only receive tuition and fee waivers for courses at the University of Illinois (UIC, UIS or UIUC). Complete the withdrawal registration waiver request form and return to the UIC Service Center to confirm your withdrawal status. No credit hour limit.

Graduate assistant tuition waivers are a condition of employment and eligibility for UIC intensive courses. Students must meet enrollment requirements throughout the semester and maintain 25% to 67% attendance for at least 91 calendar days of continuous instruction one week prior to the last day of the fall or spring semester and 41 consecutive calendar days. On summer service days. Must maintain 25%-67% hourly appointments for additional time to qualify for tuition and select fee waivers. Attendance exceeding 67% or less than 25% will result in rejection.

Ib Students Pass Rate

Tuition waivers cover the full cost of tuition, except for graduate programs with tuition differentials. Please see Admissions and Records for a list of current admissions and fees.

The Office of Student Financial Aid will apply for a waiver based on graduate assistant appointment information in the payroll system. If the graduate assistant position has not been applied for, students can receive an initial invoice 10 days before the start of the academic year. After applying for a graduate assistant position, the Office of Student Aid will apply for a waiver the following Tuesday or Thursday. Students should deal directly with Financial Aid regarding their student accounts.
