Seattle Events Calendar 2023 – For the first time since 2020, the Polar Bear will return in 2023 with a personal event!
Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Meadowbrook Community Center Advisory Board are co-sponsoring the annual Polar Bear Walk on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at noon at Matthews Beach, 9300 51.

The 2023 Commemorative Courage Badge will be awarded to all heroic Polar Bear participants who dived up to their necks in water. The patch will show the world that participants are fighting cold water.

Enter the warming fragrances. While people wait for the dive to begin, a variety of food trucks, games, a photo booth, music and a t-shirt/hoodie vendor will be available.

As in previous years, young polar bears and anyone else who needs a little space can join the Polar Cub Club as part of the event before the main dive. For true heart, double dipping is allowed.
The Polar Bear Plunge is the first official event of its kind in the Seattle area and has inspired similar events throughout the region. Janet Wilson, Aquatic Center Coordinator at Meadowbrook Pond, started the event on January 1, 2003. About 300 people participated in the first Polar Bear Plunge, and participation has since grown to more than 1,900 brave bears. in 19 stores during the Edmonds Summer Wine Walk. The three registration locations include the Edmonds Historical Museum, 118 5th Ave. N by Edmonds.

Club Comedy Seattle
Watch eight short films selected from over 200 submissions, then vote for your favorite at the Short Film Festival at Driftwood Players, 950 Main St. in Edmonds.
See seven pieces during Strawberry Jam at 12th Avenue Arts, 1620 12th Ave. in Seattle. Runs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The 21+ Fourth of July Fireworks Cruise includes a buffet lunch and three hours on Lake Union, departing from Chandler's Cove, 901 Fairview Ave. N of Seattle. Boarding starts at 20:30.
Take the Bainbridge Island Ferry on foot to the Grand Old Fourth of July for a pancake breakfast, car show, foot race, street fair, beer/wine garden, children's activities and parade at 1 p.m. Other events are at Waterfront Park, 301 Shannon Drive SE on Bainbridge Island.

New York Islanders Vs. Seattle Kraken (rescheduled)
Bluegrass of the Forest Festival features national headliners, contests, band skating, mandolin tasting, youth programs, vendors and jamming, with camping available, at Shelton South Mason Ballpark, 2102 E Johns Prairie Road in Shelton.

The Seattle Polish Festival features Polish music, dance, food, crafts, workshops, a beer garden and vodka tasting at the Seattle Center Armory and nearby outdoor amphitheater. Free.

The Wedgwood Neighborhood Arts Festival features Northwest artists, live music, food, a beer garden and a variety of family fun outside Our Lady of the Lake Church. Free.
The Japan Fair features Japanese art, food, vendors, entertainment and Taiko drumming at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. Free entrance and parking.

Music and art lovers converge on Tacoma's 6th Avenue (from State to Alder) for Art on the Ave, featuring restaurant food, art installations and live bands on stage at TAPCO Credit Union, 2802 6th Ave. in Tacoma. Free.

Kent Cornucopia Days is a street fair with food vendors, a kids' zone, a car show (Saturday), a dragon boat race (Saturday), a 5K (Saturday) and a parade down 4th Avenue (Sunday, 13:00). The main entertainment scene is at Town Square Plaza, 115 2nd Ave. N of Kent. Free.

Favorite Winter Activities In Seattle
The non-competitive 200-mile Seattle to Portland (STP) bike ride is one of the best in America, with 10,000 participants leaving from north of Husky Stadium and spending a day or two making the trip south.

The Vashon Island Strawberry Festival features a whimsical parade (11 a.m. Saturday), a music stage with a dance floor, a drink garden, carnival rides and vendors. The shuttle bus from the ferries costs $2 cash each way. The Main Stage is located at Vashon Village, 17205 Vashon Hwy SW in Vashon. Free.
The Mill Creek Festival and Street Fair features an artist gallery, food vendors, beer garden, two stages of entertainment and a free bus from the Henry M. Jackson High School parking lot, 1508 136th St. Southeast of Mill Creek.

Lunar New Year Events Around Puget Sound
See frogs, snakes, lizards and other exotic creatures at the Pacific Northwest Reptile and Exotic Animal Show at the Washington State Fair Events Center, 110 9th Ave. Southwest of Puyallup. Please do not bring pets. It took place in January and July.
Sundae Runday is a 5K run or 2-mile walk on park trails and closed roads along the shore of Lake Washington, complete with a kids' run and costume contest, followed by an ice cream sundae. Starts at Genesee Park, 4316 S Genesee St. in Seattle.

Four Days of Aloha features workshops, hula dancing, crafts and food vendors, a 5K run/walk and a daylong Hawaiian festival Saturday at Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St. in Vancouver.

Capitol Hill Block Party is a three-day music festival with 80 bands, DJs, craft booths and food trucks. Enter on 12th Ave. & E Pike St

The Seafair Indian Days Powwow features competitive dancing, drumming, native clothing, native art for sale, food booths and a daily salmon cook-off outside the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Discovery Park.
