On Thursday, the district unveiled a new sign on the Little Rock West Innovation High School campus. Housed in a renovated office building, the school opened in 2019 with just 64 students.

Headteacher Karen Heatherly said the new facility would triple the school's capacity to 1,200 pupils.
"Because we're a small school, we can't offer some of the things that high schools do, like major sports. So being able to grow and have a new high school that offers all the high school experiences that high school students want is very important to us and important to our families and students," Heatherly said.
The school will have new fields for football, basketball and other sports. In addition, he said, there will be a dedicated building for the agricultural program, the only school of its kind in central Arkansas.

Little Rock School Board member Jeff Wood said the project has been in the works for a while in one of the city's fastest-growing areas.
"For a decade or more, West Little Rock has dreamed of a West Little Rock ribbon cutting day," Wood said. "So with the commitment we've made with community support and the recent community vote that funded a brand new campus in west Little Rock … it should be a joy for all city residents to bring economic growth to a local school."
The $83 million expansion project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2025.
