Ball State Summer 2023 Calendar – For the second year in a row, Ball State University has maintained its "room and board" rate for next year's students. As IPR's Stephanie Viechmann reports, tuition will increase in Muncie schools.

Courses at Ball State are approved every two years. A 1.8 percent increase for the 2022-23 school year. year was approved in 2021.

But for the second year in a row, the amount students will pay for living, dining and rooming on campus will remain the same. Without parking, the general "room and office" rate is less than $10,800.

Ball State President Jeffrey Mearns said he knows the tuition hike comes at a time when fewer Hoosier high school graduates are choosing to attend the university.

"We know that tuition is an important part of the cost, but other costs are also important. And so, for us, continuing to contain costs – not in terms of inflation – is a sign that is key to our commitment to satisfaction and access for all students.

Next year's budget, also approved Friday, projects a class size of 3,500 students for the fall.

Not all Indian colleges have approved room and board rates next year. But compared to last year's numbers, Ball State said it was the fourth lowest, behind the University of Southern Indiana, Purdue University and IUPUI. In-state tuition last year was the fifth lowest – above all three schools and Indiana State University.

Ball State will also break ground on the final wing of LaFollette Dormitory this summer. Mearns said the school had been planning for years for demolition, but kept one section as a Covid-19 dormitory during the pandemic. The school plans to build a garden and a green lawn on that site.

The crosstown series consists of four games, July 25-26 at Sock Park and August 15-16 at Wrigley. The second series is the Tuesday/Wednesday series.

The season ends as scheduled in 2022 against San Diego, not until 2023. The White Sox will finish with a series at Sox Park against the Padres.

As for holiday dates, the White Sox host the Angels on Memorial Day and the Blue Jays on July 4th.

The time and channel have not been announced and will run until 2023. As with everything in life, the match schedule is subject to change. The completed season and the complete broadcast schedule will be announced before the next season.
