Csun Spring 2023 Academic Calendar – Between February and March, the NSF HSI STEM Resource Center will sponsor a series of grant workshops for HSI faculty, staff and colleagues.
Courses are designed to develop hands-on skills in specific areas of philanthropy. In addition to our popular 2-day Quick Start grant course, we offer shorter half-day Sembrador courses that build skills in specific areas of grant preparation and management.

Virtual workshops are limited to 12 to 24 participants to allow participants from across the country to collaborate and network in an environment that fosters and encourages face-to-face interaction.

Registration is free and costs nothing to join. It is hoped that a small part of the workshop will help with this.

Priority admission is given to the faculty within the first 10 years of their first appointment to the faculty position, as well as to the faculty that receives a grant to teach STEM students. Preliminary decisions are made regularly and with a fixed seminar start date. Applicants should be aware that selection seeks to have various representations of regions and institutions.
JumpStart training is designed for faculty and staff preparing grants for the NSF HSI initiative aimed at increasing grant support for STEM education at Spanish-language institutions (NSF 22-611: Deadline: Last Wednesday of August every year – August 31, 2023).

During this intense and comprehensive 2-day workshop, participants will have the rare opportunity to seek advice from successful grant applicants, ask questions to knowledgeable and experienced donors, and review samples to learn about pitfalls to avoid.
Sembrador Mini philanthropy workshops are independent half-day events that focus on specific aspects of grant preparation and administration. Content applies to many NSF applications as well as enterprise applications.

Courses detail specific aspects of granting, such as program evaluation, preparing annual reports, developing STEM educational content, and post-award skills such as preparing an Annual Report.

NSF HSI's National STEM Resource Center is tasked with providing vocational skills training to Hispanic institutions, particularly those who receive little or no NSF grant support. Education is supported by NSF awards 1832338 (NMSU) and 1832345 (CSUN). Any ideas, findings, conclusions, or recommendations presented may not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation, NMSU, CSUN, or DACC. The mission of the School of History and Sociology () is to "promote an environment in which students and faculty members can develop an awareness and understanding of the social and cultural aspects of all scientific and scientific activity in all corners of the world, our city, country and region." Therefore, we can no longer ignore the huge role that racism plays in undermining this mission and our ability to be a leading voice in the university.

The current national and international record of racism and injustice has prompted Georgia Tech to take a closer look, and it's clear that we still have a long way to go in our efforts. In our conversations with students, alumni, faculty and staff, we've heard stories of unforgivable encounters with racism. These stories both hurt and healed us. We must begin by recognizing and critically examining how our school's practices, unintentionally, contribute to the racism and injustice that people of color face at our university. Also, at Georgia Tech, we cannot be satisfied with a gradual reduction in the number and intensity of these experiences and a gradual improvement in the quality of the experiences of people of color.

Instead, we must recognize that this is an urgent crisis that requires immediate action and long-term strategic plans to ensure that Georgia Tech becomes a tribal anti-discrimination agency. We see faculty, staff, and students as leaders not only for our university and the Georgia University System, but also for other universities and colleges across the country. The Committee Against Racism defines racism as active opposition to racism through deliberate action, policies and procedures. Because we all have a responsibility to fulfill our mission, this opposition to racism must exist at the individual, human, organizational and structural levels, with the understanding and commitment of all members of society.

With the development of this new Anti-Racist Committee, we hope to draw attention to the need to address the ongoing inequality in our School so that every member of our community feels equal. Because we are already a leader in Black Feminist thought, the Anti-Racist Committee is committed to continuing to use feminist approaches, thanks in part to the well-known Black Feminist Think Tank. pressure, like sex. , heterosexism, transphobia, xenophobia and Ebleism in our school and university.
The following objectives describe the committee's initial strategies for removing our curriculum, educating our faculty and students, strengthening our future recruitment methods, and engaging in anti-discrimination work.

Spring 2023 Virtual Grantsmanship Workshops
1) Click on the Georgia Tech Library for important data needed to study and teach black history and related fields.
2) Review/correct undergraduate syllabus, including current course titles, review new course offerings and potential major changes. Build a strong Black Studies course using an existing African American Studies certification as a starting point.

3) Tap Georgia Tech to recruit the African-American history and sociology and/or African diaspora department.

4) Help improve hiring, promotion and tenure processes and find and hire an outside consultant for periodic peer review and create spaces where faculty and I can raise concerns about the work of this committee. California State University (Cal State or CSU) is a system of public universities in California. 23 campuses and eight off-campus institutions serve 485,550 faculty students and 55,909 staff.

It is one of three public higher education systems in the state, the other two being the University of California System and California Community College. The CSU system is registered as Administrators of California State University. The CSU system is headquartered in Long Beach, California.
The CSU system was established in 1960 under the California Master Plan for Higher Education and is a direct continuation of the California State Regular Schools chartered in 1857.

Six Wolverines Earn Academic All District Honors
In the academic year 2015/16, CSU awarded 52 percent of California's newly awarded degrees, 33 percent of information technology degrees, with the most business graduates (50 percent), criminal justice (50 percent), engineering (51 percent), crime justice (51 percent), justice (53 percent), public administration (60 percent), and agriculture (75 percent) more than all California universities and colleges combined.
Overall, about half of the undergraduate degrees, one-quarter of the master's degrees, and three percent of the doctoral degrees awarded each year in California go to CSU.

Additionally, 62 percent of all undergraduate degrees awarded to Latinos in California and more than half of undergraduate degrees earned by Latinos, African Americans, and Native Americans are awarded to CSU.

The CSU system is one of America's leading producers of graduates and goes on to earn doctoral degrees. in the relevant department.

Since 1961, more than four million students have earned a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in the CSU system.
In the fall of 2015, 9,282 (or 39 percent) of CSU's 24,405 teachers completed the course.

Ncaa Division I Board Adopts Changes To Transfer Rules
Founded in 1862 in San Jose (today's San Jose State University), the California State Normal School is the oldest campus in the CSU system.
The California State University system today is a direct descendant of the Means Ewing Normal School, founded in 1857 by George W. Means in San Francisco. It was a regular school that trained future teachers in the high school system and was the first of its kind in California.

In 1862 the school was transferred to the state of California and moved to San Jose. eventually became San Jose State University.
